Long-term update #3: Audi A3 Sportback

Long-term update#3: Audi A3 Sportback
=============================

Yesterday, on Monday 19th June, was the first time I brought the A3 to the race track. I am even more impressed with its dynamic abilites after experienced it in Mission Raceway. Precise steering, nice body control, comfortable ride quality, nifty Direct Shift Gearbox and awesome 2.0T 200hp engine. However, its braking performance left a-lot-to- be-desired in first run. The braking performance has started to improve in the second, third and last runs when I used DSG more than rely on braking before entering a corner. After the track event, fuel economy has improved. It dropped from an average of 9.5-10L/100km to 9L/100km.

On our next dealer visit, I will bring the A3 in for an air-conditioning check-up. That’s because I felt it doesn’t feel cold enough for 17 degrees. On the other hand, all the other A3 Sportbacks I drove in “Audi Streets of Tomorrow” driving event felt about the same as mine. We will soon find out whether its normal or is it an isolated incident on our next update.

Current mileage: 6880 km
Fuel economy: average 9L/100km
Unscheduled repairs: none
Next scheduled maintenance: August 2006

HI I´m from Brasil nad I have a 2008/2008 Audi A3 Sportback with DSG. I bought it 2 months ago and I noticed a strange noise coming under the car. First I thought it was nothing but after I cross a road mad with stones (like old roads) the noise come more clearly.
The dealership said it was a normal noise coming from the DSG transmission, they said every DSG transmission has this noise. I tried to look for at the net about it, especially long term tests (here and at the Road and Track Maganize) and no one say anything about it.
Do you have this same strange noise coming from your DSG transmisson, especially when you croos irregular rodas?

Thanks for your attention
