The biggest highlight of 2006 Audi S4 with 6-speed stick is the change from front-bias 50/50 to rear-bias 40/60 split Torsen Quattro all-wheel drive. In the past, one have to drive really hard into a corner before encounter oversteer characteristics. And that is after you experienced understeer for the first 5/10 of a curve. With the newly advanced 40/60 split, Torsen Quattro’s understeer characteristics is less severe when first dive into a corner. At first, you will experience a very slight understeer. As you pushed harder and harder into the curve from 3 and 4, as you enter the mid-corner; oversteer starts to appear. Unlike many rear drivers, this Quattro AWD is much better to control and easier to encounter when is the vehicle has reached its limitation. When one lost control, the smart Torsen system would transfer power to the offending wheel similar to what 50/50 did in the past. As expected, the steering is as sweet as one expect from an S4. That means precise and responsive with excellent weight and feedback. Other than the awesome 40/60 split Quattro and new bold waterfall grille, everything else is typical Audi fare. Excellent 340hp V8, top-notch fit-and-finish; as well as superb ride quality.
